πŸ“ Some of you might have spotted our detailed match reports from Straffard games over the past couple of weeks on social media. Many thanks to Francis Farrell for these β€œon the sideline” reports.
We look forward to more of these reports in the future as he transitions to his new career of sports journalist πŸ™‚

πŸ’ƒ Best of luck to all our Straffard players from Ardclough and Straffan Youth Theatre groups who thread the boards in Belfast this weekend, presenting the show they’ve worked so hard on this year. Enjoy the weekend girls.

🏐 On the pitch

U10s vs Confey/Cappagh

Our U10s kicked off their Go Games season on Saturday with some fantastic skills on display!

Huge thanks to Confey and Cappagh for making the trip to Straffan. The girls looked amazing in their brand new jerseysβ€”big shoutout to PwC for the generous sponsorship. Support like this means so much to the club and helps us continue to grow and support our young players. Well done to all the girls, brilliant effort all around!

U12s vs Clane

Our U12s made the short trip over to Clane in the first of the spring league games. The girls showed skill and determination and worked extremely well against a strong and  skillful Clane team. They fought until the very end and never gave up. Thanks to Clane for the hospitality as always.

The girls also looked amazing in their brand new jerseys with a big shoutout to PwC for the generous sponsorship. Support like this means so much to the club and helps us continue to grow and support our young players.

Straffard U12s

U8s vs Leixlip/Rathcoffey

Our U8’s were in action at the weekend against Leixlip and Rathcoffey.
The girls were all great and did the jersey proud!

U13s vs Kilcullen

Our U13s played Kilcullen in Division 1 on Monday evening in Straffan, coming out on top 4-9 to 3-5 making it 2 wins from 2 and putting them top of the league table after round 2.

U14s vs Kill

Our U14s had a local derby with Kill in Straffan on Tuesday evening. Kill came out of the blocks all guns blazing and racked up some early scores to leave Straffard with a mountain to climb in the second half.
With a number of girls playing with knocks and a couple having leave the field of play due to illness things looked bleak. However the players rallied in the second half, showing phenomenal character.
Although they lost the match, they can be proud of keeping their chins up and winning the second half.
Special praise to Millie Viljanen and Lucy Cunningham who switched to the back line in the second half and shored things up.
Also well done to Lucy Ferris who was given the unenviable task of switching to midfield in the second half and marking Kills strongest player. Kills attacking threat was immediately stifled because of her workrate after half time. πŸ’ͺ

U13s vs Clane

Our U13 Div 4 team played Clane in Straffan last night. Although they lost on the night to a very good Clane team, they kept going right until the final whistle. Well played girls and hard luck on the night.
